`Tiergarten Senke is part of Rachael Clegg’s Nürburgring series, in which every image illustrates a story about Europe’s most treacherous, twisting, challenging racing circuit. All images are designed and modelled by Rachael and shot - on location - by Ian Parry at the epic Nordschleife circuit. Each image ‘recreates’ a specific event in the Nürburgring’s history at the exact spot that event happened.

The story: 

The Ferrai horse mascot certainly enjoyed the spotlight in the 1952 German GP finishing first, second and third. But the marque’s blanket victory was not without drama, especially where wheels were concerned. Alberto Ascari beat his team mate Nino Farina on the finishing straight and raced down the finishing straight to victory, despite having badly-damaged his rear wheel at the Karussell. Meanwhile, Piero Tarrfi Ferrari back wheels had turned inwards, leaving the Italian crawling across the line to a fourth place.
