SAMUEL FINLEY BREESE MORSE - LIMITED EDITION
SAMUEL FINLEY BREESE MORSE - LIMITED EDITION
This image was part of a commission to illustrate the history of satellite technology. The exhibition of images, when presented together, trace the evolution of satellites from the invention of the telegram to the latest advances in space technology.
The story:
It was May 24, 1844 when Morse telegraphed his first message ‘What hath God wrought?’ from the Democratic National Convention in Baltimore to the US Capitol building in Washington D.C.
The message was selected from the Bible and travelled across $30,000’s worth of cable spanning 38 miles. Since then Morse Code has become the language of telegraphy. But while 169 years have passed since Morse asked ‘What hath God wrought?’, his famous question remains unanswered.
