Glen Helen is from Rachael Clegg’s Milestones series in which every single image illustrates an event from the history of the Isle of Man TT Races.
The story:
John Surtees hit a cow during practice at Glen Helen in his first year of racing at the TT in 1956. He said: “I was just about to snick from second to third gear when a cow jumped over the bank in front of me.” Poor cow.
