BRETT'S CHIPPY

BRETT'S CHIPPY

from £440.00

Brett’s Chippy is from Rachael Clegg’s Milestones series in which every single image illustrates an event from the history of the Isle of Man TT Races.

The story:

Jack and Charlie Brett were TT-racing brothers who also ran a fish and chip shop. The original chippy was here - on North Street, Leeds - and remains a fish restaurant today. Both brothers had the business and racing in common but Jack Brett proved the more successful rider, competing in Grand Prix world championships from 1949 to 1960 with four Isle of Man TT podium finishes. In 1958 Brett was signed up to race for the ill-fated Slazenger racing team, racing a 350cc Manx Norton in the 1958 Junior TT but retired during the race. His teammate, Alan Trow, also retired during the race. Slazenger, it seemed, were better sticking to the badminton and tennis courts.
