VANDAL FAIRY AT ST TRINIAN'S
VANDAL FAIRY AT ST TRINIAN'S
Fairy Vandal at St Trinian’s is part of Rachael Clegg’s Nürburgring series, in which every image illustrates a story about Europe’s most treacherous, twisting, challenging racing circuit. All images are conceived and designed by Rachael and shot - on location - by Ian Parry at the epic Nordschleife circuit. Each image ‘recreates’ a specific event in the Nürburgring’s history at the exact spot that event happened.
The story:
Tucked away at Greeba, barely 30 metres from the TT course, stands the ruined 14th-century church of St Trinian’s. The church has been without a roof since the 17th-century, after it was blown off at least twice. Some blame mischievous fairies for the vandalism while the others believe it is the ‘Buggane’ of Greeba. The church was built on the haunting ground of the ‘Buggane’ - a huge ogre - who despised the ringing of the church bells and so set about destroying it. Whichever legend, the result was the same: a church with no roof. Thus St Trinian’s is known in Manx as Keeill Brisht or Keeill Vrisht: the ‘Broken Church’.
