GREEBA BUCKING BRONCO
GREEBA BUCKING BRONCO
Large framed giclée print, edition of 30, 98cm by 98cm
Greeba Bucking Bronco is from Rachael Clegg’s Milestones series in which every single image illustrates an event from the history of the Isle of Man TT Races.
The story:
It was here where Mike Hailwood realised the 1967 Senior Diamond Jubilee TT was his, having just seen a pit board informing him that arch rival Giacomo Agostini was out of the race. But this didn’t make Hailwood’s victory any less heroic. Hailwood’s mount, the 500cc Honda RC 181, had diabolical handling - so much it was nicknamed the ‘bucking Bronco’ because of its recalcitrant nature. Fellow rider, John Cooper, who had ridden the RC 181 at Snetterton, said: “If bloody Hailwood wins on that bloody he deserves the Victoria Cross.”
